Multifamily: Resident Amenity Survey

Lincoln Property Company surveyed 92,000 apartment residents to understand shifting preferences for amenities, services, and design in a post-COVID world.

Key Takeaways:

  • More households across asset type anticipate working-from-home, making basic internet a must, and access to space more desirable

  • Location, interior layout, and price are biggest decision factors for finding and renewing apartments – 63% of respondents cite walkability as a top factor in decision-making

  • Access to outdoor space, natural light and air (e.g. can open windows) has become a “high priority” for >65% of respondents

  • Preferences vary somewhat by age – with younger renters focused on amenities such as fitness and pools, and older renters focused on parking, and on-premise office/business capabilities
